Flowmap is a software package dedicated to analyzing and displaying interaction or flow data. This type of data is special in the sense that there are two different geographic locations connected to each data item: an origin location where the flow starts and an destination location where the flow ends. The flow data itself can consist of people (e.g. commuters, shoppers, hospital visitors), goods, usage of agricultural services or telecommunication and so on.

However, most thematic mapping and GIS packages have little functionality for treating this kind of information. Now Flowmap fills this gap. Flowmap is a PC software package (Windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP and will in most cases also work within Windows Vista and Windows 7), developed at the Faculty of Geosciences of the Utrecht University in the Netherlands.

Unlike the climate charts on this site, which are all original, these maps were adapted from others found on the web.

The temperature and rainfall maps are somewhat modified output from climate mapping software available from the UN FAO Sustainable Development Department.

The wind speed map is brought to you in full psychedelic color by NASA Surface meteorology and Solar Energy: Methodology PDF, 1.4 megabytes, very technical.

Welcome to the National Climatic Data Center's (NCDC) Climate Maps Of The United States database (CLIMAPS)! In here you will find over 2000 climate maps of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. 

These full color maps are available for climatic elements such as temperature, precipitation, snow, wind, pressure, etc., chosen to portray the climate of the U.S. The period of record of the data for most of the maps is 1961-1990. Most of the maps can be downloaded in a high resolution Adobe PDF format, or as ESRI Shape Files
