Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

The scope of the course is to showcase the role of remote sensing as an information extraction tool in the Marine Sciences ecosystem through advanced scientific applications. Specifically, upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to:

• Manage different types of satellite data and utilize them to generate secondary information in a semi-automatic way.
• Acquire the skills to extract information and create indices through remote sensing methods to describe potential harmful events of the Greek and global oceans (phytoplankton outbreaks, marine heatwaves)
• Synthesize different parameters through appropriate statistical methods for various oceanographic applications (aquaculture, fisheries, etc.)
• Be able to find and study a scientific publication and participate in the organization of an original scientific paper.
