Course Description

The aim of these courses is to prepare students for professional environment communication requirements, including postgraduate studies.

To this end, these courses focus on further practice of oral and written language skills in relation to the aspects described above.

There is particular emphasis on targeted training in spoken language.

Moreover, pronunciation issues are further dealt with, including additional practice.

Syllabus includes:

- Oral description of works of art / design objects: useful language,

- Presentation delivery: guidelines and practice,

- Curriculum Vitae and Cover Letter writing,

- Interview Questions (professional and academic): guidelines and practice,

- Pronunciation practice: particular emphasis on the special features of the English pronunciation,

- Presenting Bibliography

 

ASSESSMENT/GRADING METHODS:

Considering that the course mainly focuses on the oral practice and use of the language, in order to pass the course, students are expected to have completed a minimum of 85% of attendance, along with active participation in class, as well as the preparation and delivery of oral presentations and any other assignments.

  • Educational Activities

    The prime objective of the course is the familiarization and further training of students in oral presentations, combined with further acquisition of terminology related to their studies, so that they can more effectively use the English language as an instrument of communication in a professional environment, but also as a tool for creative research and constructive scientific work.

    There is particular emphasis on targeted training in spoken language.

    Moreover, pronunciation issues are further dealt with, including additional practice, considering that this field constitutes one of the difficult aspects of the particular language.

    Extensive use of audiovisual material serves to achieve more effectively the afore-mentioned objectives.
